US President Donald Trump indicated that he had been briefed on the broad outlines of Iran’s response, noting that he would receive the precise wording later. He said: "I will soon review the plan that Iran sent us, and I do not imagine it will be acceptable."
Trump added: "The previous Iranian leadership is finished, and the Iranians do not know who their leader is at the moment," considering that "Iran will need 20 years to rebuild its capabilities, but we will not withdraw now, and I want to eliminate what remains in Iran, of course." He said: "Iran has been subjected to devastating strikes and is now striving hard to strike a deal with Washington."
He also noted that "Democrats should not obstruct our operations in Iran," stressing that "Tehran must pay a heavy price for what it has done over 47 years."
On the possibility of resuming attacks against Iran, Trump said: "That could happen," noting that "the blockade of Iranian ports is very nice, and many ships are buying oil from Texas and Louisiana."
Elsewhere, Trump announced that "the United States will reduce its forces in Germany by more than 5,000 troops."
