Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the killing of Sheikh Farhan Hassan al-Mansour, saying that targeting religious figures and holy sites in Syria and the region falls within “attempts to ignite strife and destabilize stability.”
In a direct message to the Syrian authorities, Tehran stressed the need for the transitional government to fully assume its responsibilities in protecting all components of the Syrian people and ensuring security and stability across مختلف المناطق.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) had reported that Sheikh al-Mansour died of wounds sustained in a hand grenade explosion in the Sayyida Zainab area in the Damascus countryside, after being transferred to hospital for treatment.
