Salam from Iraq: We want an effective partnership that opens horizons for investment and development between Lebanon and Iraq

Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam paid an official visit to the sisterly Republic of Iraq, heading a ministerial delegation that included Finance Minister Yassine Jaber, Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi, and Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj.

The visit featured official meetings between the Prime Minister and Iraqi President Nizar Amidi and Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, during which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries and develop joint cooperation across various fields. The visit also included bilateral meetings between the Lebanese delegation’s ministers and their Iraqi counterparts.

During the talks, Prime Minister Salam stressed that Lebanon is moving resolutely to advance strategic connectivity and integration projects with the countries of the region across various sectors, particularly energy, telecommunications, and transport, in a way that allows it to benefit from the opportunities created by current transformations and strengthens Lebanon’s position and role in its regional environment.

Prime Minister Salam affirmed that economic cooperation among the countries of the region constitutes a fundamental pillar of strength, stability, and shared prosperity, especially when based on a vision that achieves mutual benefits and common interests. He noted that Lebanon looks forward to being an effective partner with Iraq in shaping these regional projects, in a way that opens new horizons for investment and supports paths of development and sustainable growth in our two sisterly countries.
