Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri raised his voice in warning over the repercussions of the violent Israeli bombings that struck several southern areas, stressing that what happened goes beyond the bounds of military aggression to constitute a threat to people, the environment, and لبنان’s heritage.
Berri pointed out that the scale of destruction resulting from the use of around 700 tons of explosives triggered seismic tremors measuring 3.8 degrees, felt by residents of the South and Mount Lebanon all the way to the outskirts of the capital, Beirut. He said these scenes should serve as “a call to awaken national and human conscience” toward what he described as systematic destruction whose effects reach stone, people, and cultural memory.
Berri stressed that the recent Israeli attacks are “condemned, and it is not permissible to remain silent about them or surrender to their realities,” calling for confronting these violations with a responsible national stance that protects Lebanon and its people.
