Port of Beirut honors French Ambassador Hervé Magro and François Sporier on the occasion of the end of their duties in Lebanon

Marwan Nefi, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Port of Beirut, honored French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro and François Sporier, head of the Economic Department at the French Embassy, on the occasion of the end of their diplomatic duties in Lebanon, in recognition of their continued efforts in supporting the Port of Beirut since the August 4, 2020 explosion, and for their close follow-up of the various French initiatives and missions that contributed to supporting the port and advancing its rehabilitation and development, as well as for their constant commitment to strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the Port of Beirut and the French Republic.

The tribute took place during a luncheon hosted by Nefi in the presence of board members, where he praised the depth of Lebanese-French relations and the leading role France has played in supporting the Port of Beirut throughout the various stages following the August 4 explosion, whether through technical and institutional support, or by accompanying rehabilitation and development projects and contributing to enhancing the port’s ability to regain its vital role as an economic gateway for Lebanon.

Nefi stressed that the relationship between the Port of Beirut and France constitutes a historic partnership based on trust and a shared vision, expressing his deep appreciation for the efforts made by Ambassador Magro and Mr. Sporier throughout their tenure in Lebanon, and for the sincere commitment and constant interest they showed in supporting the port. He wished them continued success in their future responsibilities.

For their part, Ambassador Magro and Mr. Sporier expressed their pride in the relationship they built with the Port of Beirut, affirming France’s continued interest in supporting its recovery and strengthening cooperation with various Lebanese institutions, stemming from the strategic position the port holds in the region.
