Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has escalated its rhetoric toward the United States and countries backing it, asserting that the Strait of Hormuz is under the “full control” of its naval forces and warning that any intervention in the region will be met with a firm response.
In an official statement, the Revolutionary Guard announced the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid what it described as “American interventions and threats,” noting that any country participating in support of Washington is required to change its behavior or face a “harsh response.”
The statement added that two oil tankers attempted last night to leave the southern passage of the strait, claiming the move was incited by American aircraft, before a fire broke out on one of the tankers, forcing both to turn back immediately.
The Revolutionary Guard stressed that “the Strait of Hormuz is our territory, and the sailors of the Revolutionary Guard Navy exercise complete control over it,” adding that “no outsider coming from thousands of kilometers away will be allowed to interfere in it,” in a direct message to the United States.
