
Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar affirmed, ahead of the Cabinet session, that the state will not tolerate any actions that violate the law in connection with the general amnesty file, stressing the need to approach this issue from the perspective of justice and addressing humanitarian conditions inside prisons.
Al-Hajjar said: “We will not allow any unlawful action over the issue of a general amnesty.”
He added: “If a general amnesty law must be passed, it should be fair and take into account lifting injustice and easing prison overcrowding.”
Regarding the recent US sanctions, Al-Hajjar noted that he had asked the Director General of General Security to open investigations into any potential violations, saying:
“I asked the Director General of General Security to conduct investigations into any violations, if any are found, in order to take the necessary measures.”
