Intensive diplomatic activity toward Beirut... Berri at the heart of U.S. contacts and an anticipated Qatari-Saudi move

Special information obtained by MTV revealed an escalation in the pace of political and diplomatic contacts related to the Lebanese file, amid regional and international efforts to push the ongoing negotiations forward.

According to the information, the U.S. side is holding contacts with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri as part of an attempt to reach an understanding with him, based on the view that he is a pivotal figure within the Shiite community and capable of helping facilitate any potential agreement.

In the same context, the information stated that Qatar’s Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry, Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, intends to visit Beirut soon with the aim of coordinating positions and supporting the negotiating track underway in Washington, while working to involve Berri directly in this process.

The information also indicated that the Saudi envoy, Prince Yazid bin Farhan, will arrive in Beirut in the coming days, where he is scheduled to hold meetings with Lebanese officials as part of efforts aimed at keeping pace with the ongoing contacts and bringing Berri into the understanding that the United States is working to formulate, according to MTV.
