The Union of Workers and Employees of Electricité du Liban announced the suspension of the strike it had called for, following a meeting held today with the Minister of Energy, attended by representatives of the union, the Qadisha and Litani Authority unions, as well as members of the regulatory authority.
In a statement, the union explained that the Minister of Energy confirmed during the meeting that there is no intention to introduce any amendments to Law 462/2002, particularly Article 45, in a way that would affect the status of workers and employees. He stressed that any step in this regard would only be taken with the participation of the concerned unions, in a manner that ensures continuity of work and preserves rights and gains.
Based on these guarantees, the Council of the Union of Workers and Employees of Electricité du Liban decided to suspend the strike as a gesture of goodwill, with work set to resume normally on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The union also affirmed that it will continue to follow up on issues concerning the institution’s workers, stressing its commitment to protecting employees’ rights and preserving the regulations and interests of Electricité du Liban.
