Lebanese-French call... Aoun and Macron discuss the future of the south and the post-agreement phase

President Joseph Aoun held a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed the latest developments on the Lebanese and regional fronts in light of recent events.

During the call, President Aoun briefed his French counterpart on the results of his visit to the United States and the talks he held with US President Donald Trump and a number of American officials, which addressed the situation in Lebanon and the post-agreement phase following the framework formula, in addition to the course of implementing the points contained in it.

The two presidents also discussed developments in southern Lebanon amid the continued Israeli attacks on a number of southern villages and towns, with President Aoun stressing "the need to put an end to them and to abide by the cessation of hostilities."

The talks also addressed the phase following the end of the mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the south, and the importance of continued international engagement to ensure stability and strengthen security in the region.

Presidents Aoun and Macron agreed to "remain in contact to follow developments," as part of monitoring Lebanese and regional issues of mutual interest.
