The Municipality of the City of Choueifat confirms that the campaign targeting the Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor, Judge Sami Sader, is unjust and misleading, and bears no relation to the actual facts, falling within the scope of unjustified accusations.
The municipality explains that, in response to the needs of displaced residents, discussions were held regarding the establishment of a temporary camp on privately owned land adjacent to the Choueifat public road. From the outset, the municipality expressed full readiness to cooperate and provide all necessary support to host the displaced, alongside the centers that have been operating since the first day of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
However, field and security assessments clearly showed the risks associated with the proposed site, particularly as the area had been exposed during the 2024 war to nearby and dangerous shelling, making it unsafe and vulnerable to potential threats. On this basis, Judge Sader’s decision to prevent the establishment of the camp was made in line with his legal responsibilities and his commitment to protecting lives.
Accordingly, the Municipality of Choueifat firmly rejects the defamatory campaign targeting Judge Sami Sader, who is known for his competence and integrity, and reaffirms its full confidence in his judicial conduct. It also stresses that the measures taken, in coordination with the relevant authorities, including the Choueifat police unit, are solely aimed at maintaining public security and safeguarding citizens.
The municipality calls for accuracy in addressing this issue and warns against politicizing or exploiting it for populist purposes, given the negative repercussions such actions may have on local stability and crisis management.
