Economy Minister Amer Bassat affirmed that the next phase will focus on re-establishing the basic conditions of life in the South, following the completion of damage assessment operations for the destruction and attacks that affected many areas.
During an inspection tour of the city, Bassat stressed that the priority lies in restoring stability, launching the reconstruction process, and strengthening residents’ resilience through a series of government programs and measures aimed at addressing the repercussions of the previous phase.
He pointed out that the return of normal life to the South is not limited to rebuilding structures, but also begins with reactivating state institutions, noting that the Economy Directorate will resume full-time operations starting next Monday as a key step toward reinforcing the presence of public administrations in the region.
Bassat said the visit was intended to assess the scale of the damage and to examine firsthand the extent of the destruction that struck Nabatieh and various southern areas, stressing that efforts are under way to secure residents’ basic needs, including water, electricity, and telecommunications, as well as to rehabilitate various infrastructure facilities.
He concluded by emphasizing that the South remains at the heart of the government’s concern, and that efforts are continuing to pave the way for a new phase centered on reconstruction and the restoration of daily life for residents.
