Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Amer Al-Bisat affirmed that the coming المرحلة requires strengthening the economic track and opening up opportunities for cooperation, noting that economic files have become at the heart of official contacts both domestically and abroad.
In a statement from Baabda Palace following his meeting with President General Joseph Aoun, Al-Bisat explained that he briefed the president on a number of files related to regional and international economic relations, pointing to the importance of the results of foreign visits in supporting Lebanon’s position and reviving economic activity.
Al-Bisat said:
The President’s visit to Washington was successful politically and economically.
I briefed President Aoun on the results of my visit to Syria, which came as a continuation of the path that began with the Prime Minister’s visit and covered files of economic cooperation, investments, and the handling of technical issues, particularly the situation at the border crossings, in addition to discussing developments in relations with the International Monetary Fund.
Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Economy has intensified its oversight, carrying out thousands of inspection tours, issuing hundreds of violation reports, and referring major violations to the judiciary, which led to the closure of establishments and the confiscation and destruction of non-compliant goods.
Al-Bisat pointed out that the Ministry of Economy will continue monitoring the markets and protecting consumers by tightening oversight and taking legal measures against violators, in parallel with efforts to address the economic files facing Lebanon.
