The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned what it described as the Iranian targeting of Ras Laffan Industrial City, considering it a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of state sovereignty, amid rapidly evolving developments in the region.
In an official statement, Doha reaffirmed its commitment to a policy of neutrality and distancing itself from conflicts, noting that this approach has not prevented it from being targeted, alongside neighboring countries, by Iran, which—according to the statement—continues its escalatory policies.
Qatar also stressed its longstanding calls to spare civilian and vital facilities from military actions, particularly energy infrastructure, across all countries without exception.
Below are the key statements from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
"The brutal Iranian targeting of Ras Laffan Industrial City is a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of state sovereignty."
"Despite Qatar’s policy of neutrality, the Iranian side insists on targeting it and neighboring countries."
"The Iranian side continues its escalatory policies that are pushing the region toward the brink."
"Qatar has repeatedly called for the non-targeting of civilian facilities and energy infrastructure, including in Iran."
"We renew our call for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take measures to halt these serious violations and deter their perpetrators."
"Qatar reserves its right to respond in accordance with international law."
"Qatar will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens."
Doha concluded by reaffirming its full right to take whatever measures it deems appropriate to safeguard its sovereignty and security, within the framework of international law and conventions.
