The US State Department announced the start of implementing the first phase of the "pilot zones" project in southern Lebanon, noting that operations began today in the towns of Froun, Srifa, and Western Zawtar, within the framework agreement and under the supervision of the military coordination team for Lebanon.
The State Department said this step constitutes one of the first outcomes of the talks held last week in Rome between the Lebanese and Israeli delegations, stressing that it represents practical progress on the path toward implementing the understandings that were reached.
The department affirmed that the United States will continue close coordination with both Lebanon and Israel to ensure the full and effective implementation of the framework agreement, in a way that achieves its objectives and enhances stability in the region.
