From the Heart of the Storm... Pezeshkian Defies Washington: Our Rights Are a Red Line, No Concessions

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed that Tehran had made no concessions in the clauses of the memorandum of understanding, stressing that his country had preserved its rights, interests, and principles, and that the substance of the agreement does not serve Washington’s interests unilaterally.

Pezeshkian pointed out that Iran is facing an exceptional phase that requires strengthening internal unity and making decisions according to what he described as “collective wisdom,” noting that the current conflict is not limited to military confrontations and that attempts to pressure the Iranian people will not succeed in achieving their aims.

The Iranian president warned of the repercussions of economic pressure on military achievements and social gains, stressing that the country is going through “war” conditions and that its affairs cannot be managed using the previous conventional methods.

Pezeshkian stressed the need for major decisions to enjoy consensus among state institutions, warning that the absence of agreement could aggravate the challenges facing the system, while at the same time calling for combining the confrontation of external threats with addressing domestic issues.

He concluded by affirming that Iran remains committed to defending its interests, but needs a realistic approach that takes into account the consequences of its choices and positions in the coming phase.
