Korki announces a new package of health decisions: faster approvals for bone marrow transplants and advances worth hundreds of billions

The Public Relations Directorate at the National Social Security Fund announced that the Fund’s Director General, Dr. Mohammad Korki, has launched a series of new measures aimed at speeding up health services and strengthening medical coverage for beneficiaries, as part of the ongoing plan to develop working mechanisms within the Fund.

In a statement, the directorate said that Korki issued Circular No. 1524 dated July 17, 2026, setting out the mechanism for granting prior approvals for bone marrow transplant operations of both types, Autogreffe and Allogreffe, in a way that ensures clarity of procedures and facilitates patients’ access to the required treatments.

According to the circular, Autogreffe procedures require two prior approvals: the first relates to the preparation and cell collection stage, while the second covers the transplant, treatment, administration, and follow-up stage. Approval for Allogreffe procedures, meanwhile, is granted for all stages of the operation in accordance with the approved medical code.

Korki stressed that adopting a unified and clear approval mechanism is a fundamental step to ensuring the effective implementation of the new health decisions and accelerating patients’ access to treatment within appropriate timeframes, in line with the Fund administration’s direction toward improving medical and administrative services.

In the context of supporting healthcare institutions, the statement noted that Korki issued three other decisions, numbered 382, 383, and 384, granting financial advances to hospitals and doctors with a total value of nearly 309 billion Lebanese pounds, with the aim of enhancing liquidity for entities contracted with the Fund and ensuring the continuity of health services for beneficiaries.

Korki also issued an additional decision, No. 381, granting the Chhim office a financial advance of 1.5 billion Lebanese pounds to cover benefits for optional beneficiaries.

The Fund administration stressed that it will continue updating work systems and simplifying procedures, alongside taking the necessary financial and administrative measures to support the health sector and protect the rights of beneficiaries, affirming that improving health benefits and ensuring the continuity of services remain at the core of its priorities.
