Matar: Aoun-Trump summit is pivotal for Lebanon... Arab support to strengthen independent decision-making

MP Ihab Matar wrote on the X platform:

"We are among those betting that President Joseph Aoun’s visit to Washington will bring many positives. Signs of that emerged in his meeting yesterday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, through the affirmation of Lebanon’s independent course in negotiating over its land and its choices. The picture will become clearer tomorrow in his meeting with President Donald Trump, in a decisive US-Lebanese summit, amid the boiling regional cauldron in the Strait of Hormuz."

He added: "The call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman came to confirm the scale of genuine Arab backing that Lebanon enjoys in its pursuit of owning its independent decision, away from external wagers that have embroiled us in successive calamities."
