Chairwoman and Director-General of Télé Liban, Elissar Naddaf, affirmed that over the course of a single year the institution has taken advanced steps on the path to revival, placing administrative, technical and programming development at the heart of a plan aimed at restoring the national broadcaster’s role and standing in لبنان’s media landscape.
Marking one year since the appointment of the new board of directors, Naddaf reviewed the أبرز milestones that shaped the past phase, noting that the work began with rehabilitating infrastructure and modernizing equipment, before moving on to content development and strengthening the institution’s presence both locally and abroad.
The modernization drive included reviving the Hazmieh building and equipping modern studios for a number of programs, alongside upgrading the studios at the Tallet el-Khayyat building and securing a new news studio with support from the Chinese Embassy, in addition to developing the studio of the program “Ahla Sabah.”
As part of preserving Lebanon’s media memory, the administration worked on digitizing and restoring Télé Liban’s archive, in preparation for reinforcing its status as part of the national heritage and seeking its inclusion in UNESCO’s “Memory of the World” register.
The institution also strengthened its external media presence by developing French-language news content in cooperation with the International Organisation of La Francophonie, alongside implementing sustainable technical projects, most notably a solar energy system at the Naas transmission station to ensure continuity of broadcasting and improve operational efficiency.
On the technical level, Naddaf pointed to cooperation with the National Media Development Company aimed at modernizing equipment and transitioning from SD to HD broadcasting, in addition to preparations to launch a new visual identity in cooperation with France Médias Monde next September, reflecting a renewed image for the institution.
The development process was not limited to the technical aspect, but also included strengthening academic and institutional partnerships with a number of universities and bodies, with the aim of investing in young talent and raising the level of expertise within the institution, alongside training programs to entrench the principles of governance and modern management.
On the administrative front, Naddaf highlighted the measures taken to address the conditions of employees and retirees by following up on employment and social rights, approving the minimum wage, handling retirees’ files, and improving working conditions within the institution.
As for programming, the national screen witnessed the launch of a group of new productions, most notably the program “Hiwarat al-Saray” and the program “Ramadan Beirut,” in addition to preparations for programs targeting youth and expatriates and focusing on culture, the arts and Lebanese identity.
Naddaf stressed that during the past phase Télé Liban maintained its role in keeping pace with national milestones through coverage of major events and official visits, emphasizing that the institution is not working on separate projects, but within an integrated vision aimed at rebuilding a national screen capable of keeping up with the times.
She concluded by affirming that “Télé Liban” is not merely a media institution, but part of the nation’s memory and history, and that work is continuing to restore its role as a unifying platform for all Lebanese and a screen that reflects Lebanon’s image and preserves its media legacy.
