Kanaan from Baabda: Full support for Aoun’s roadmap... and banking reform to protect depositors’ rights

MP Ibrahim Kanaan, head of the Finance and Budget Committee, after meeting President Joseph Aoun:

I support the steps and positions taken by the President of the Republic in Washington, as they represent bold choices to save Lebanon and complete the roadmap to stop the war, recover the land and the state, rebuild, and strengthen the army. Protecting the Lebanese begins with protecting their state, halting the cycle of destruction, and ending the violation of Lebanon.

Our message is that of the Blessed Patriarch Elias Howayek: the Lebanon of the future, pluralistic and sovereign over its full 10,452 square kilometers.

Tomorrow, we will put the final touches on the banking reform law, and I briefed the President of the Republic on the positive atmosphere aimed at restoring the confidence of depositors and investors. We legislate to protect rights, not interests.
